Comedian available for hire, based in South Australia
Craig Egan began his comedy career in 1997 doing open mic spots in Boltz Café and Comix Comedy Cellar. “Boltz” provided an opportunity for unproven talent to learn the craft of stand up comedy in an environment that was supported by a group of comedians that were on the verge of establishing themselves on a national scale, including Justin Hamilton, Mickey D and Lehmo.
In 1999 Craig represented South Australia in the National Finals of Triple J’s Raw Comedy Competition in front of 1,500 people at Melbourne’s Town Hall.
Upon his return Egan performed regular gigs on the thriving Adelaide comedy circuit, taking his energetic, vibrant style to audiences around Adelaide and rural South Australia. In 2000 Craig won his way to the finals of Green Faces. This time he returned to head breakfast radio on community dance music radio station Fresh FM with fellow Adelaide comedian Lehmo. “The Craig and Lehmo Breakfast Show” quickly picked up a unique underground cult following among the dance music community. Craig also worked in varying capacities for both Triple M and SA~FM.
In April 2002 he took over the running, promotion and booking of 2 of Adelaide’s most exciting comedy clubs, P.J. O’Brien’s Poster Comedy Show and Rhino Room’s Monkey Business…
Craig has performed solo shows in 2 Adelaide Fringes. 2004 with “Craig Egan’s Summer Of Rock Tour.” and 2006 with “Craig Egan. Make Some Noise.” He performed in and promoted the underground hit of the 2004 Edinburgh Comedy festival “The Phat Cave.” with fellow Adelaide comedian Mickey D. “The Best Of Adelaide Comedy”, a show Craig produced and performed in, which featured in two Melbourne International Comedy Festivals and the 4 Adelaide Fringes.
Craig now concentrates his efforts entirely in to Adelaide Comedy providing a future for emerging talent, a place to perform for local acts and hundreds of comics from all over the world.
Proud to be South Australian he intends on bringing the best local, national and international comedy to all South Australians for many years to come. With long term plans to be here in Adelaide and it is his sincere hope that the Adelaide Comedy logo and brand of shows will live long beyond ourselves and become a South Australian institution.
