David has vast experience in the areas of hosting and compering corporate events and can be seen as a vehicle for taking Melbourne's No 1 radio station 3AW to the discerning audience. He joined 3AW in 1973 after completing Matriculation at Blackburn High School, and is the longest serving employee of the company. David started at 3AW as an office boy, he then moved into panel operating, became a cadet journalist, and started an announcing career. He was an on air personality for 15 years, whilst progressing through various positions such as Production Manager, Creative Director, and is now Promotions & Marketing Manager, a position he has held for twelve years.

David has his own company Mann Promotions Pty Ltd; which consults on promotional, marketing and public relations activities for clients throughout Australia. Within the company he takes up other roles for clients such as the Metropolitan Fire Brigade Melbourne, where David is their Public Relations and Media Manager. He occupies some Government appointments such as being a member of the Australia Day Committee, is a member of the Public Affairs Committee for the Bureau of Emergency Services and Telecommunications and is also Chairman of the Royal District Nursing Service Appeals Board, Chairman of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Day Council, and a Trustee for the Mount Macedon Memorial Cross Restoration Development and Maintenance Trust.

David has travelled extensively over the last 15 years across the United States working with the Emergency Services and he now lectures to Emergency Service personnel on the role of the media in Australia and the organisation of the Emergency Services in the United States.
