Three of the most experienced and diverse improvising musicians in Australia combine their love of standards by such greats as Cole Porter, Gershwin, Jerome Kern and Duke Ellington, with their passion for bebop and beyond, the fire of Charlie Parker, and the freedom of Charles Mingus.

The Sydney Jazz Trio creates a unique "Chamber Jazz" style, characterised by Brien's sinuously mobile lines, the driving energy of Arié's bass lines, the warm lyricism of Cutlan's bass clarinet and the omission of drums. The three combine their love of the jazz tradition and hard swinging with a freedom of interaction which is both creative and liberating.

Along with the music, the Sydney Jazz Trio presents a complete concert experience. They enjoy entertaining and communicating with the audience, relating interesting anecdotes about songs and composers, instruments, and the life of the jazz musician.
