From the smooth Jazz as your guests arrive for pre-dinner drinks to the background dinner music set and lively dance brackets (if required), Orlando Combo can add atmosphere to an event without drawing the focus away from proceedings but can also provide entertainment when required. Corporate clients include BHP, Loreal, Ericsson, Ernst and Young, IBM, GE, Pfizer, Accenture and Telstra. In 2001 the group completed a six month contract at the Hotel Sofitel, Vietnam. Public venues in Melbourne have included, The Night Cat, Manchester Lane, The Paris Cat and Dizzy's Jazz Club along with private functions at the Melbourne Club, Crown, Australia Club, Grand/Park Hyatt's, the NGV, Government House etc. Wedding performances are also a specialty.
The genre is Jazz but more specifically the sound is a hot blend of Swing/Rhythm and Blues/Bossa Nova/Soul and Funk. Inspiration and repertoire comes from the swing of Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis, standards and show tunes of Frank Sinatra/Michael Buble, smooth bossa nova of Antonio Carlos Jobim and the groove, soul and pop of Ray Charles, Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Al Green and The Beatles.
The band takes up minimal space and is discreet with equipment, being fully aware of the visual importance of wedding and corporate function work. Dress is lounge suit unless otherwise indicated. Being regular performers at the Spring Racing Carnival and various functions in Melbourne's parks and gardens the group is able to play without a power supply if requested (please refer to the video footage for examples). The Combo also travels to the Peninsulas and rural Victoria for performances.
