Debra Byrne is one of Australia’s most cherished and accomplished artists, in a career that has included television, theatre, recording and amazing live shows at venues nationally. Debra’s reputation as an outstanding vocalist has long been admired through her roles in many hit musicals, including: Mary Poppins, Cats, Les Miserables, Jerry’s Girls, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Little Me, Follies, Thoroughly Modern Millie and as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard.
Debra was chosen to perform her role of Fantine on the World Symphonic Recording of Les Miserables. The recording won the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Soundtrack.
Over the past thirty years Debra has performed on television in Law Of The Land, ABC dramas Police Rescue, GP and The Naked Series “Cross Turning Over”, The Secret Life Of Us and most recently as Claire Christie in Tricky Business.
Debra has recorded many albums, her personal favourites being Caught In The Act, New Ways To Dream and Sleeping Child. As a public speaker, Debra is very much in demand, especially since releasing her autobiography –Not Quite Ripe.
One of Debra’s loves is Cabaret, and most recently she performed her latest production of Ripe at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. The show Girls, Girls, Girls! Was written, directed and choreographed by Debra and was a huge success nationally in clubs, casinos and corporate functions.
