Arj Barker is Australia's adopted son of comedy. He is a regular occurrence on Australian TV screens with appearances on Good News Week, Spicks and Specks and the 7pm Project. He also plays Dave on the hit show Flight of the Concords.
Combining observational comedy with deadpan absurdism to create a brand of comedy that's somewhere between Jim Gaffigan and Mitch Hedberg, Barker's onstage persona is that of a person with conviction. Conviction of his own ignorance; always certain, but rarely right. He takes his time with his setups and builds to explosive -- and very funny punchlines.
Barker who won the coveted Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1997, has firmly established himself as one of the golden boys on the international comedy circuit. For years, he has been honing his craft at comedy festivals and clubs all around the world.
He has made numerous appearances on late night talk shows, including Letterman and Conan O'Brian shows, as well as his own half hour pecial on HBO produced by comedy central. Arj also plays 'Dave' on HBO's hit series 'Flight of the Conchords'.
Though acting is a consideration, Barker seems to enjoy doing stand-up and travelling most. And so he continues to tour the world, bringing his original brand of humour wherever there's a stage and an English speaking audience.
