The band formed in 2006. We basically locked ourselves in a rehearsal studio in Sutherland developing our sound, Joel says. The band were determined to write music that was fresh, that wasn’t so generic and refused to play shows until they had a unique sound.
They played their first show in January 2007 and have since built a solid following throughout Australia.
We want to make people dance and have a good time. I guess our goal is to do what we do and see how far it takes us, says front man Christian.
The band have been lucky enough to be picked to to tour with major international acts such as Hard Fi & Silversun Pickups, as well as playing this years St Kilda Festival.
Amy Meredith also paired up with hipsters Little Red to do month long co-headlining residencies in both Sydney and Melbourne.
In January 2008 Amy Meredith recorded their debut EP with Sydney producers John Hardy and Peter Mayes (Pnau). The self-titled 4-track features The Smiths / Joy Division inspired single ‘Black Eyes’.
Following in the footsteps of successful artists such as Operator Please, Evermore and previously ACDC, Amy Meredith are working hard to build a large youth following by touring high schools nationwide.
