Azaria’s circus work includes four years with Rock n Roll Circus Brisbane 1997-2000. In 2001 Azaria won an Australian Young Achievers Award which allowed her to train at the Moscow Circus School, where she was resident 2001/2, specializing in tissue, hula-hoops and walking globe. Azaria’s international work includes queerupnorth (UK), the Institute of Contemporary Art (London), Duckie (London), Almedia Theatre of Live Art (London), Hanover World Expo 2000 (Germany) Noumea EQUINOXE Arts Festival 2001. Azaria’s current work includes the Green Room Award Nominated Gurlesque, Sydney’s own women-only performance and burlesque striptease troupe, The Tiny Top Australia’s legendary touring sideshow tent, The Famous Spiegeltent for the 2003 and 2004 Melbourne International Festival and the box office sellout show The Burlesque Hour. Azaria is co-director/creator and performer with The Candy Butchers contemporary circus company (winner Most Outstanding Production Fringe 2004). In 2005 she will tour to Edinburgh and the UK with The Burlesque Hour, to The Christchurch Arts Festival with The Tiny Top and premier The Candy Butchers new work at The Sydney Opera House.

Azaria works across circus, physical theatre, drag, dance, striptease and contemporary clown to create an extraordinary body of work that sits at the tassel of contemporary circus and burlesque. Azaria has created theatre with a diversity of companies and forms including Rock N Roll Circus (Brisbane), Penny Arcade (New York), The Work it Girls (London) Vulcana Woman’s Circus (Brisbane) ERTH physical /visual (Sydney) and The Tasmanian Circus Festival. She has worked with directors and choreographers Nigel Jamison, Gail Kelly, Brian Lucus, Angela De Castro, Paul Saliba (Sydney Dance Company), Stephen Burton (Melbourne) and Michael Hurst (New Zealand).
