Two 20-somethings and a piano man stumble their way through life, love, careers and centre-link payments! The sassy, home-grown cabaret show, \u201820-Something\u2019, by The Vox Trust featuring Tamara Shinners, Rachel McCall and Jamie Cock.<\/p>\n

Tamara and Rachel have spent a long time trying to find themselves, and in their twenties they realise there is such a thing as the quarter-life-crisis! Souls are bared with this fresh cabaret mix. They weave together original songs with a mix of those from recent off-broadway shows, cabaret classics and a touch of opera.<\/p>\n
From the tones of Sondheim and Jason Robert Brown to a worrying rendition of Offenbach\u2019s \u2018Barcarolle\u2019, these cheeky performers wade through the common dramas of the twenty-somethings! The satirical homage to Centrelink is a particular highlight, plus a comical spin on the two \u2018Jules\u2019 of politics!<\/p>\n
The Vox Trust create an intimate setting for this shining act. Jamie Cock feels right at home and provides the accompaniment with some quirky banter to add to the mix.<\/p>\n

Rachel McCall<\/p>\n
Rachel McCall completed her Bachelor of Music \u2013Voice Performance at the Elder Conservatorium in 2001. Soon afterwards she traveled to Denmark to complete her Arts Degree at the University of Copenhagen. Since her return, Rachel has performed with the State Opera of SA, was a chorus member in the Opera Australia \/ Adelaide Festival Centre production of \u2018The Mikado\u2019 in 2005 has worked with the State Opera Young Artists, Co-Opera and many companies across Adelaide. With the State Opera Young Artists she has appeared in \u2018Sunday in the Park with George\u2019, \u2018L\u2019enfant et les sortileges\u2019, \u2018Hansel and Gretel\u2019 and \u2018The Breasts of Tiresias\u2019. Rachel achieved critical acclaim for her performance as Polly in Adelaide University\u2019s \u2018Threepenny Opera\u2019 in 2001. and has appeared as a guest soloist for many events including Adelaide Baroque and the Bundaleer Festival Weekend. For the Christmas Proms in 2007 she appeared alongside music theatre performer, Rachael Beck for a cameo duet. Whilst enjoying lessons with Helen Tiller, Rachel also gigs in contemporary folk\/rock duo with her brother John as \u201c\u2026The Days\u201d.<\/p>\n
Tamara Shinners<\/p>\n
After completing her Bachelor of Music-Voice Performance at the Elder Conservatorium, Tamara went on to live in Tokyo and then Copenhagen, Denmark to complete her Bachelor of Arts on exchange. Whilst in Copenhagen Tamara performed in \u2018The Dining Room\u2019 with the Danish Theatre company Projekt Magerne under American director Michael Simpson. As if she hadn\u2019t studied enough, upon her return to Australia Tamara completed a Masters of International Studies at the University of Adelaide. Another year in Copenhagen saw Tamara record with U.K producer James Hope, until her love of the sun only saw her return to Aussie shores again late last year. Since then Tamara has performed in various Adelaide Theatre productions, performed for the Bundaleer festival weekend and recorded and performed with Adelaide funk band Universal Dust. Most recently Tamara had the opportunity to sing back up vocals for Michael Buble on his recent tour. Additionally, Tamara has appeared in short and feature films with local SA production companies Hotcocky Films and Dark Mirror Productions.<\/p>\n
Jamie Cock<\/p>\n
Jamie Cock graduated from the Elder Conservatorium, Adelaide with Honours in Piano Performance. Postgraduate studies followed at the Martinu Academy in Prague and later a Masters in chamber music at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg, Germany, graduating with distinction. He has been the recipient of many awards, including the 1992 Geoffrey Parsons Award and was a prize-winner at the 1998 Berlin Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition (violin\/piano duo). He has presented concerts throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand, working with esteemed musicians such as Heinz Holliger, Robert Aitken and Raphael Wallfisch, and was employed as a staff accompanist at the Musikhochschule Zurich-Winterthur. Returning to Australia in 2005 he freelances as chamber musician, accompanist and teacher.
