Tectonic is a band made up of some of Cairns’ finest musicians. Together, they can perform a variety of styles in a variety of lineups. The players are:

Russell Harris - Trumpet / Lead Vocals / Guitar: Whether shredding a Lead Trumpet part to the max or making the Flugelhorn sing, Russell puts his heart and soul into each performance putting the top end to the Tectonic horn section. Doubling as male lead vocalist, Russell’s career spans almost 20 years as a professional musician, songwriter and performer – has released a solo album of original material entitled “Simple Life” and has played on many other Australian artist’s albums/recordings including renowned indigenous performer David Hudson, Songwriter Andy Collins, Seaman Dan and more. His experience with live bands includes State Of Mind, Motorcross, Russell Harris Band, Latin Jazz Excursion and Hip Fidelity. Born in Cairns 1962, Russell holds a Diploma of Music and divides his time between performing and teaching music.

Andree Baudet - Saxophones / Keyboards and Vocals: Born near London, Andree started playing piano at age six, then took up cello soon after. Having been immersed in music right from the start thanks to her swing-loving father it wasn't long before tenor sax was added to the list. Having completed her A levels in England she then moved to Switzerland to attend The Swiss Jazz School in Bern where she went on to play with several different bands in various resorts and festivals for the next four years. She has lived in the Far North for six years and her versatility has allowed her to play with many local bands including Hip Fidelity and The Swingin' Alley Catz. Andree can also be heard on several Australian recordings.

Wayne McIntosh - Lead Guitar / Vocals: Wayne has played with some of Australia's best musicians (including Tommy Emmanuel, Ian Moss, George Golla, Mal Eastick and James Morrison). He is one of Australia's best guitarists and has ten CDs of original compositions in many different styles on the record shelves at the moment. He is constantly in demand for recorded and live performances. By his own account he has backed ‘a zillion acts’; comedians, singers, instrumentalists, strippers, circus animals and is the only person to have caught a Red Emperor, Coral Trout (extremely good tasting fish), speared a Crayfish and then played Jazz Guitar all in one day! No one has succumbed to his lobbying to have his stand up comedy routine included with our gigs yet (they get enough of it in the band room).

Warren Wheeler - Guitar / Bass / Piano / Vocals: A composer, performer and teacher, Wazza’s guitar licks will amaze and enthral even the most discerning guitar-philes out in the audience. A total inspiration to play with, you can often catch Wazza having a laugh with the audience while on stage. He has played with the live bands Drifting Spirits, Hip Fidelity, Grand Slam and the internationally renowned Snake Gully Ensemble. Warren teaches at Cairns College of Technical and Further Education, plays terrible golf and will tell you that his handicap is his golf clubs.

Nigel Pegrum - Drums / Percussion / Flute: Nigel has been playing the drums since the age of 7 and has been playing professionally since the age of 16. Before immigrating to Australia in 1991, he had been a member of the Small Faces, Uriah Heep and U.K. Folk/Rock band Steeleye Span - with whom he was awarded 5 Gold and 7 Silver records. Nigel now lives in Cairns and runs his own recording studio, producing Australian Indigenous World Music CDs which are marketed worldwide.

For your event, Tectonic can perform both roving music (although not traditional Calypso style) and perform as a covers band.
