Welcome to the swingin' groove oriented sounds of 'Sue Speer & The Big Buzz Combo'. The band brings together some of Melbourne's most diverse and experienced musicians in a blend of Jazz, Rhythm 'n' Blues

and Soul. They have performed with notable international touring acts ncluding Silverchair, Betty Harris, Big Jay McNealy and Charlie Musslewhite. Their diverse local credits include The Moovin' and Groovin' Orchestra, The Swinging Sidewalks, The Pearly Shells, Tony Gould, Paul Williamson, Ray Pereira, Julien Wilson, Dereb and the Lion of Juda, Way Out West and Pre Shrunk.

The musicians in Big Buzz Combo have played a wide variety of venues and entertainment centres. From the vast auditoriums of the main tennis centres across Australia to major musical festival events both here and abroad, the list of festival appearances by these musicians is impressive:

The Big Day Out, The Falls Festival, Meredith Festival, Livid Festival, Edmonton International Jazz Festival, The Loco Loco Festival Osaka Japan, The Vancouver International Jazz Festival, The Brisbane Music Festival, The Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, The Montreal International Jazz Festival, The Melbourne International Jazz Festival, The Wangaratta Jazz Festival, New Caledonia Jazz Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival and the Queenscliff Music Festival, just to name a few. Other performances include venues at Crown Casino, Bennetts Lane, Dizzy's Jazz Club, Manchester Lane and the famous St Kilda Esplanade Hotel.

Sue Speer and the Big Buzz Combo came together through a music cooperative based in Melbourne which produced a year-long performance residency at a small inner city venue. Working together over 12 months, these accomplished musicians recognised the potential for a more permanent collaboration and the Big Buzz Combo was born.

The group can perform as a Quartet, Quintet or with an added four-piece horn section (Trumpet, Tenor, Alto and Baritone saxes), as the occasion demands. Similarly, if their unique blend of musical styles is not enough, the band can accentuate either its Jazz repertoire or the more Rhythm 'n' Blues oriented repertoire as the context requires.

So make your next night an extravaganza with Sue Speer and The Big Buzz Combo!
