Sophie Scott is the ABC's National Medical Reporter. She joined the ABC after five years as a reporter and producer in the United States and is the recipient of numerous awards for her work.

Sophie Scott is the Senior National Reporter for the ABC’s flagship news bulletin at 7.00pm. Her stories appear on Lateline, Stateline and 7.30 Report and her reports can be seen throughout New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific Region, through CNN and ABC's Asia-Pacific television network. She can also be heard on ABC radio, Newsradio.

In 2005, Sophie Scott received the Health Research in the Media award at the Research Australia “Thank You” Day Awards in recognition of her ability to communicate complex information in a way that the general community can easily understand.

Sophie Scott was the television newsreader for ABC Tasmania from 1998 to 2000. From 1997 to 1998, she was the Los Angeles reporter for 11AM (Seven Network Australia), where her role included filing extended television profiles including news, entertainment and current affairs reports. In 1997 she was the Los Angeles Weekend Correspondent for Network Ten Australia, where she filed daily news and current affairs reports including covering the Oklahoma Bombing Trial.

In 1996, Sophie Scott was the Washington ABC Television and Radio Producer, producing reports for ABC News, 730 Report, Lateline, Foreign Correspondent and Four Corners. She also filed radio reports for ABC Radio News and the World Today. From 1994 to 1996, Sophie was Senior Producer for ARD German TV in Washington DC, where she was responsible for producing news, documentaries and one-hour specials for national German television. During this time, Sophie Scott also worked as a freelance producer in Washington DC, where she produced and reported for Fox Morning News, Reuters, TV2 Denmark, ABC, AAP, Discovery Channel and EPSN2. She also produced and presented documentaries on Central America and India for US cable network.

Sophie Scott has won numerous awards for her work including the 2004 Winner Australian Musuem Eureka Awards Pzifer Award for Medical Reporting; 2005 Highly commended ACE reporter award - 'awarding cancer enlightenment'; the 2000 and 2001 Special Award from the Cancer Council (Tasmania), the 2000 MEAA Awards for Excellence in Television Reporting and the 2000 Australian Hearing Society Television Award. In 1999 she was awarded the Athol Meyer Award, Cancer Council (Tasmania).
