Allan Zavod is an internationally known jazz pianist voted in the "Top Ten US Jazz Pianists" of the 80's, having toured and recorded with many celebrated international bands including Glen Miller,Woody Herman, Maynard Fergusan, Jean Luc Ponty, George Benson and Frank Zappa.

After completing a classical Bachelor of Music degree at Melbourne University Zavod met Duke Ellington who advised him to further his jazz studies at the famed Berklee College of Music in Boston where he later became a professor. Allan has composed classical/jazz works for James Morrison, the Sydney Symphony, Adelaide Symphony, The Australian Youth Orchestra, Munich Radio Orchestra and the Louisiana Philharmonic. In addition he devised and taught an elective at Melbourne University on the subject of classical/jazz fusion.

As a film composer Zavod has over 30 films including one with the legendary Eric Clapton.

This year Allan has been invited by Melbourne University to become a Doctor of Music.
