Truly, an amazing culture and a significant part of Australia’s history. The Weka Djimbu aboriginal dance troupe acknowledges and brings to life ancient Aboriginal culture through traditional and contemporary story-telling, dancing and music.

Based in Kuranda, the village was once known as the meeting place for local coastal and rainforest people to trade food, weapons and ideas. Several groups make up the region's bama (people). The traditional land area extends to areas close to Mareeba, includes Mt Molly, PD and Redlynch. These tribes once moved with the seasons along the coast and inland to search for food sources.
