Horns of Leroy
available for hire, based in Victoria
Formed in 2013, Melbourne’s Horns of Leroy have become one of the country’s premier brass bands. Inspired by the sounds of New Orleans and fused with the energy of the Melbourne streets, the group has earned themselves a reputation for delivering raucous shows built on strong foundations and insatiable energy.
A staple on the local and national music circuits, Horns of Leroy have been performed hundreds of shows that have seen the band grace stages everywhere from The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to Splendour in the Grass; from Dark Mofo to the hallowed Hamer Hall and Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
Their grand sounds have been heard nationally and on different platforms. Whether it’s been Melbourne’s iconic White Night or the renowned Melbourne International Jazz Festival, through to the Queenscliff Music Festival, Falls Festival and Strawberry Fields, the appeal of a group like Horns of Leroy has proven time and time again to be wide ranging.
Born out of a love for New Orleans brass band sounds and works of the genre’s contemporaries, Horns of Leroy have taken such influences and developed a sound that Australian audiences instantly recognise. Releasing their debut self-titled studio record in 2016, then following it up with the release of the Lift Your Game EP in 2018, Horns of Leroy - in a short period of time - cemented longevity for themselves within an Australian music industry embracing music fluidity and change.
Achieving broader success in 2017 courtesy of a cover of the famous Victoria Bitter theme song, arranged for launch of VB can promotion (leading to over 100k views), a viral cover of Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ (over 300K views) and further television appearances on The Project and Big Music Quiz, the appeal of Horns of Leroy has proven itself solidly across the board.
Since the band’s inception, Horns of Leroy have shared the stage with the likes of Thando, The Black Sorrows, Vika & Linda Bull, Angus Stone (Dope Lemon), Kate Ceberano, Dylan Joel, and the Rockwiz Orchestra, while touring in support of artists including Gogol Bordello (US), Hot 8 Brass Band (US), Saskwatch and The Black Sorrows.
2020 will see Horns of Leroy release their sophomore album, Big Night. Set to unveil the album’s lead single ‘Flex’, featuring Melbourne dynamo Thando, in the first half of the year, Horns of Leroy are gearing up for their biggest year yet.
