Comedian available for hire, based in Victoria

Rodney Marks is Australia’s misleading comedian. He is a corporate impostor - a comic hoaxer in a business suit. His comedy is usually in the form of fake keynote speeches at business events, conferences and meetings. Sometimes he is a comedy MC/emcee at awards nights and conventions. He is a corporate entertainer infamous as the perpetrator of Hoaxes and Jokeses.

As a full-time professional comedian since 1991, and in demand now more than ever, you’ll be in safe hands with Rodney. He won’t accidentally insult anybody. It’ll be on purpose.

Tired of having one boring keynote speaker after another? Do your audience members wish they were hitch-hiking from Sydney to Melbourne? Do you want to be hailed as a hero for booking a funny, tailored and memorable presenter? Then contact Rodney... as a speaker he’s a comedian, and vice versa.

What does Rodney Marks do, and what is a comic hoax? He arrives at an event in character, and works the room, schmoozing with attendees. If it is a conference, he will attend a seminar, and ask a question; if it is a dinner, he will attend pre-dinner drinks and work the room. This mixing and mingling establishes the credibility of Rodney’s comic character. At some agreed point, often advertised in the program, he will be called to a lectern to deliver a "keynote address".

At the conclusion of the "speech", the performance continues with a Q&A session. These questions are not set up. Those in-the-know about the hoax are observers. This time gives funny people in the group a chance to have some revenge... not really on the corporate impostor - Rodney - but on those who booked him.

He creates and presents joke-name double-talking characters. He is a corporate entertainer specialising in business events, conferences and meetings. He has performed throughout Australia, and has had over 30 international tours.

He has been visiting comedy professor-at-large at UNSW (2007), and artist-in-residence at the Macquarie Dictionary (2002-03), UNE (2001-02), the AGSM (2000-01), and Harvard (1995).

Rodney has been listed in Who’s Who in Australia for 15 years, and in the Concise Companion to Theatre in Australia. He has degrees from UNE, UNSW and Harvard.
