Dave Flanagan is as much an institution in South Australia as was the State Bank. He has been involved in the comedy industry as a writer, actor, stand-up comedian and entrepreneur since birth - almost.

An early life spent in poverty gave him the insight and humour needed to develop his craft as a comedian. He learnt his first joke at the tender age of six - "Why did the sausage cross the road?" (His family couldn't afford a chicken!)

He has since honed his craft to such an extent he has been able to shed the effects of his family's poverty and develop his own.

CORPORATE

Apart from regular stand-up work, Dave is in constant demand as a corporate comedy performer and compere. His clientele includes the Formula One McLarens Racing Team, Honda, Mitsubishi, GMH, Volvo, Fosters and many more...

Dave has worked as a stand-up comic all over Australia, from RSL and football clubs to the "new wave" venues like The Comedy Store in Sydney and the Last Laugh in Melbourne.

In 1963 Dave opened Adelaide's "Comedy Cafe". He not only managed and performed at the venue, but was also responsible for introducing the best of the contemporary eastern states' comics to Adelaide such as Rodney Rude, Vince Sorrenti, Graham Pugh, Shane Bourne, Garry Who and George Kapinarias.

In his current venue "Comix Comedy Cellar", Dave was the first to introduce Steady Eddy to local audiences.

With such a wide range of experience in the comedy field, David Flanagan is in a unique position to entertain Australians in all walks of "laughs".
