For the millions of viewers who tuned in weekly to Australian Idol 2004, the behind the scenes story of one of Australia’s great emerging talents, Courtney Murphy, was rarely told, but is essentially the story of a hard working band formed by three brothers who wanted nothing more than to play good music together.

The three Murphy brothers formed the band Murphy's Lore in 1991, enlisting their cousin and a school friend to perform their own material around the South West WA region. When Courtney was still just 13. The band won the 1993 School Music Awards.
